Abstract
In episode 4 of the series Aiuê: Listening to the Sounds of the Quilombos, the theme of ‘well-being’ is presented from a quilombola perspective, offering moving accounts of the meaning of well-being, which goes beyond material survival, highlighting the importance of being at peace in one’s territory, cultivating pesticide-free food, and having access to essential natural resources, like water and land, without external threats. The episode also addresses health issues and access to basic services, revealing how the lack of public policies impacts the community’s daily life. Well-being is then described as an act of resistance and mutual care, sustained by community ties and practices that strengthen quilombola cultural identity. In this sense, the video discusses quilombola movements for building a full, healthy, and just life, prioritizing community well-being through a relationship of interdependence and collective responsibility.
