Abstract
Chapter 3 of the series *Auiê: Listening to the Sounds of the Quilombos* presents an overview of education within the *quilombola* communities visited, highlighting cultural and ancestral influences. It explores educational practices (both formal and informal), highlighting reflections, experiences, and challenges surrounding these practices. The video emphasizes the importance of an education that values cultural roots and ancestry, reaffirming the quilombo as a space of resistance and identity.The school experience is conveyed through personal stories, with attention to challenges such as the lack of quilombola teachers, limited resources, and the historical invisibility of these communities. The chapter also highlights practices that integrate culture, identity, and memory, supporting the process of valuing one’s origins and connecting academic learning to ancestral knowledge and the struggle for identity affirmation.
